China to increase land supply for low-cost housing

HONG KONG (MarketWatch) — China plans to double the amount of land made available for residential property development this year from the average supply over the previous five years, as it seeks to accelerate the build out of affordable housing, according to a Wednesday report by the Xinhua news agency. Hong Kong stocks dive early on Greek political crisis; Hang Seng Index down 1.8%

HONG KONG (MarketWatch) — Hong Kong shares opened sharply lower on Wednesday as news that Greece would be facing fresh elections next month after a failed attempt to form a government hurt investor sentiment, dragging on stocks across the board. The benchmark Hang Seng Index (HK:HSI) slumped 2% to 19,488.70, giving back more than twice of what it gained Tuesday, when the index snapped out of an eight-day losing run. The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index lost 2.1% to 9,874.48, while the mainland’s Shanghai Composite Index (CN:SHCOMP) shed 0.3% to 2,367.86.
